The “Combi” boiler is probably one of the most popular on the market, this gives you instant hot water without the need to wait on a hot water tank heating up. These come in various outputs with hot water delivery at around 9 ltrs from a 24kw unit to around 16 ltrs @ around 35c a minute from a 42kw unit.
The “system” boiler tends to be combined with an unvented hot water tank, these boilers are also sealed systems and do not require a header tank in your attic. When combined with an unvented hot water tank this will produce the better flow rate of around 22ltrs a minute, these systems are better for larger families in larger properties, you can also add solar thermal panels to reduce your gas bills and help the environment.
Heat only boilers are more of the traditional type of units, these are ideal if it’s only a direct replacement the customer is after, these tend to be fitted to an open vented system which retains both the header tank and cold water storage tank within the attic.
To ensure your heating system runs at its most efficient, this can be determined by many factors, first the boiler, then the boiler controls.
We fit all the new types of heating controls whether it’s the more traditional type or any of the new Smart controllers which can be controlled whilst away from home.
As Nest Pro Installers, this means we are certified to carry out the installation in Fife and the surrounding areas and set-up of Nest Heating Controls and smoke alarms.
We are also experienced in fitting the Honeywell Evohome System, this system allows you to individually control every radiator thermostat within your property and also control your hot water and heating system from your smart phone.

Over the years, if your system has not had any inhibitors added or even maintained a build-up of metallic oxides and non-metallic oxides commonly known as sludge can occur. This can have a detrimental effect on how your system and boiler operates.
It is strongly advised to have a system powerflushed when a boiler is being replaced, this removes all the oxides from the pipework and the radiators without the need of removing the radiators. Once completed the system will be re-filled adding Fernox F1 system inhibitor and tested to ensure correct heat distribution from all the radiators. It is strongly advised to have a System Filter fitted, this helps to maintain the system and collects any further oxides that are produced, this also reduces the chances of unexpected boiler and heating failures in the following years.
Servicing and Maintenance
Your central heating is an important part of the comfort of your home so it’s important to have your boiler maintained on a regular basis. It is recommended that any gas appliance is checked and serviced every 12 months.
